This week I’m breaking down how the optimization of our performance starts with curiosity and why it’s so important to personal branding and mastery.

New Brand Alert 🚨
I published my book, Triggered 2 Triumph, in March of this year. And, at the time, it was supposed to be just that…the book.
I knew I’d eventually launch a coaching program for student-athletes, but I didn't know what the name of it would be.
And for some reason, I wanted the name to be different from the book.
But over the course of the year, people have resonated with the book and the flow triggers I’ve introduced them to.
And with furthering my neuroscience research, I keep discovering just how important it is for student-athletes to have the perspective shift of being triggered and creating a high-flow lifestyle.
So I’ve officially launched Triggered 2 Triumph…the coaching program. Based on the book, of course, and will use peak performance strategies to help SAs improve their personal branding and career/business development.
It’s starting out as a coaching program, but I have a global vision to make it the #1 community for SAs by 2040. And I have a mission to use it to help 1 billion SAs.
Check it out and share the program with a student-athlete that needs it.
Change Your Game With Curiosity
To recap, curiosity is our basic interest in something. Neurochemically underpinned by a little bit of norepinephrine (brain’s version of adrenaline, produces huge increase in energy & alertness) and dopamine (brain’s primary reward chemical).
Intersecting our curiosities creates passion—taking the flicker of curiosity into a flame of passion by adding the neurochemical fuel to our intrinsic fire.
4️⃣ Roles Of Dopamine
ROLE 1: POWERFUL FOCUSING DRUG 🧘🏾
When it’s in our system, attention is laser-targeted on the task at hand. We’re excited, engaged, and more likely to drop into flow.
ROLE 2: TUNES SIGNAL-TO-NOISE RATIOS 🎧
This means that neurochemicals increase signals in the brain, decrease noise, and, as a result, help us detect more patterns. There’s a feedback loop here. We get dopamine when we first detect a link between two ideas (a pattern), and the dopamine that we get helps us detect even more links (pattern recognition). If you’ve ever done a crossword puzzle or played sudoku, the little rush of pleasure you get when you fill in a correct answer—that’s dopamine.
ROLE 3: FEEL-GOOD DRUG TO DRIVE BEHAVIOR 🏃🏾♂️
Dopamine feels really good. Cocaine is widely considered the most addictive drug on earth, yet all that cocaine does is cause the brain to release large quantities of dopamine, then block its reuptake. and the pleasure produced by this chemical is key to passion. The more dopamine you get, the more fun and addictive the experience; the more fun and addictive the experience, the more you can’t wait to do it again.
ROLE 4: AMPLIFIES MEMORY 🧠
So this is how learning works on the brain: the more neurochemicals that show up during an experience the more likely that experience will move from short-term holding into long-term storage. Memory enhancement is another key role played by neurochemicals: they tag experience as “Important, save for later.”
Last Words…
As student-athletes, in such a pivotal phase in life, you have a lot to juggle that can distract you. Whether you just finished high school, just finished college, or you’re years removed from either, navigating your transition.
Focusing on your curiosities, and stacking them, will serve as a filtering mechanism with so much going on in your world—where you can focus on what actually matters.
In terms of personal branding, it helps you focus on your niche, specialty, and positioning, and the demographic you serve.
In terms of mastery, neurochemicals work like a bucket on a waterwheel. Pour enough neuroelectricity into a bucket, and sooner or later it spills into the next bucket and the next. It’s that mechanical.
Stack enough curiousities and you’ll spill over into your passion. Attach something bigger than yourself to your passion and you’ll discover your purpose. Give yourself the freedom to pursue this purpose (autonomy) and the skills required to achieve this purpose (mastery).
Peak performance is that mechanical.
Hope this added the fuel to ferociously launch your week! ♾️🔥🚀
See you next Monday! 😎
